Deciphering the shorthand on your Costco receipt isn't always easy

In the shorthand Costco Wholesale in Hackensack uses on its register receipts, my homemade breakfast the other day included "KS ORG EGGS" accented with "KSPARMREGGIA" and "KS PESTO."

You bought what at Costco, I asked my wife as I tried to decipher the shorthand the warehouse store uses on the register receipt she brought home from her weekly shopping trip.

"MIX BOUQUET" (fresh flowers) and "SWT POTATOES" (sweet potatoes) are self-explanatory.

But don't confuse "ORGNC CARROT" (three bottles of organic carrot juice for $7.39) with ORG CARROTS (a 10-pound bag of organic carrots for $7.99).

Our Costco Wholesale receipts from May 6 and April 29.

And "VIC2PKSAUCE" and "GAT VTY" are just as challenging.

The former is two 40-ounce bottles of Victoria Marinara Sauce ($8.99) and the latter a Gatorade Variety Pack ($15.99).

As for the breakfast in the photo with this post, I fried two Kirkland Signature Organic Eggs with Kirkland Signature Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese (shredded) and Kirkland Signature Basil Pesto, added after the eggs were cooked.

Costco still uses the old abbreviation, "KS REAL EGGS" to describe the product that replaced it, Kirkland Signature Egg Whites, 100% liquid egg whites with nothing added.

The last three times we bought "ORG. SPRING MIX" (Earthbound Farm Organic Spring Mix, a delicious pre-washed salad), the price was $4.29, $4.79 and $4.99.

Among non-food items, I can recommend "KS BODYWASH," Kirkland Signature Natural Citrus Body Wash, which includes 100% natural plant extracts ($9.99 for two large pump bottles).
