A mob scene is expected today at Fairway Market in Paramus. |
If you're going to the customer-appreciation day at Fairway Market in Paramus today, beware of a stampede by all those snobby shoppers trying to gorge on freebies, including preservative-laden hot dogs and mystery sausage.
The feeding frenzy runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It may be crowded, but I doubt it will be a mob scene. I imagine the barbecue will be in the auxiliary parking lot that abuts Ridgewood Avenue. Last year when they had their fire company barbecue cookoff, which was underpublicized, they practically had to pull people out of their cars to drum up a crowd. This year I'm sure will be a little different, but in addition to the hot dogs and sausages, there will be lots of drink giveaways, from Coke Zero to those fancy Rob's blueberry iced tea, and enough little bags of salty potato chips to dry a school of cod. If I'm in the neighborhood I'll be sure to be there, although I might have to forego it this year.
