I did eat a lot, but skipped breakfast and lunch the next day. That's not "gorging."

And I ate only heart-healthy seafood and fruit, plus several cups of coffee. What's bad about that?

Murray's chicken is labeled "certified humane raised and handled" This label is the only label to trust. Readington Farms is NOT the same. Please look up Certified Humane Raised and Handled to understand the system. Many labels are deceiving. We owe it to the comfort of farm animals and birds to be educated about proper labelling.

I inadvertently removed a comment questioning whether Readington Farms chicken is antibiotic free.

Readington Farms is a brand sold only at ShopRite, and it was introduced as the supermarket chain's antibiotic-free poultry.

From the beginning, packages said the chickens were raised humanely on vegetarian feed and without antibiotics. I have no reason to question the claims.

Perdue, on the other hand, continues to advertise its poultry on TV and in newspapers in a deceptive manner, usually by not mentioning antibiotics at all.

On Friday, a Perdue tractor-trailer rolled by me on the New Jersey Turnpike with this motto painted on the side and back of the truck:

"A family commitment to quality since 1920."

I love shoprite natural peanut butter. My father has had 2 heart attacks and his dr. said "anything with partially hydrogenated oils " is what causes plaque to build up in your arteries. I always make sure my peanut butter is free of that!

Wegman's didn't start out as the pricey store it is today, the prices were actually quite reasonable. I frequented the store in Johnson City, NY just outside of Binghamton every now and then when I was up in the area back in the early 90s. I do love the store but I kind of resent what the store has become, which seems to have fallen outside of the original mission statement of the founder. About 5 years ago I had the Hot Chinese Bar up in Scranton and was pretty hungry and when the cashier rang up my plate it was nearly $20.

You wouldn't know a one stop food shopping experience if it hit you in the head. I think you enjoy driving from one store to the other, praising the items you like and whacking the ones you don't. Besides, different stores have different business plans, and cater to different types of shoppers. Now, is Wegman's really coming to Bergen County? That would be cool, although your withering criticism of their food bar has probably already caused their managers to reconsider any such move.

Coleman is a well-known and respected producer of organic poultry and meat, including organic goat meat, which I have purchased at Whole Foods Market.

I'm sure the person who said he/she would "never" buy organic chicken at Costco is just blowing smoke; they don't know what they are talking about.

Coleman also makes chicken sausage from poultry raised without antibiotics, and I've seen that item at Costco as well.

We just happen to be defrosting a Coleman organic chicken from Costco for dinner tonight.

Did it ever occur to you, Victor, and I've suggested this before, that ShopRite ought to put a bell around your neck or some kind GPS on your vehicle that alerts them when you're within ten miles, ding ding ding ding, so that the customer service people can go into combat mode when you enter the store. ShopRite has some of the best customer service in New Jersey, but I suspect they recognized you and said "Oh no, it's that nasty blogger Victor again, hide the rain checks" and that's why they ignored you. There are people who are concerned with that ten cents. But the price of milk, which often changes from day to day, seems to me an honest mistake, and you immediately copped the attitude that they were trying to rip you off. I think you only go to ShopRite for the sole purpose of nagging the customer service people. I had great respect for the ShopRite on River Street after the Record laid me off.
